What Are the Benefits of a Twill Soft Top for Your Truck?

When choosing a soft top for your truck, the fabric is one of the most important components of the entire design. Because the canvas makes up such a large portion of the design, impacting durability, insulation, weather resistance, and overall performance. The material you choose directly impacts how your truck handles changing conditions, daily use, and long-term wear.

Our classic Softopper® vinyl fabric has long been trusted as part of one of the most adaptable truck bed cover solutions available. Now, we’ve taken the original to the next level with Premium Black Twill, built for truck owners who expect the best from their gear.

The 3-layer Premium Twill fabric is thicker, better insulated, and engineered to resist fading over time. We selected OE-grade soft top material that has been proven and time-tested by leading Wrangler and Bronco soft top manufacturer, Bestop — delivering trusted performance in real-world conditions.

Designed to help your truck maintain that “new look,” the weatherproof woven acrylic outer layer provides excellent resistance to weathering, fading, and dirt, while its dark matte black finish complements any truck color.

Choosing Between Premium Black Twill and Standard Vinyl

When comparing soft top fabric options, both Premium Black Twill and Standard Vinyl are built to protect your truck and handle everyday use. The difference comes down to insulation, finish, and overall feel.

Standard Vinyl has long been a proven, durable choice within the Softopper® lineup of truck soft top materials. Built from rugged 2-ply sailcloth with a weather-protective vinyl coating, it delivers dependable waterproof protection, UV resistance, and long-term durability. It comes standard with a clear rear window and is available in black, grey, and tan.

Premium Black Twill is designed for truck owners who want more from their twill soft top. Its triple-layer construction combines a weatherproof woven acrylic outer layer, a polyester inner layer for added durability and insulation, and a vinyl backing that provides thermal and sound-reducing properties. The result is a thicker, quieter, and more refined fabric with a dark matte black finish and soft-touch feel. Premium Black Twill comes standard with a dark-tinted rear window and is available in black only.
